dream a little dream....

so many people respond to my posts via e-mails and I want to share one with you:

"I had a dream last night. In this dream, I was riding a bicycle. I had a place that I needed to be at and yet so many people from my life stepped in and asked if I would also take them along. It seemed OK with me, so we'd double up and I would get them to their destination then be on my way. This kept up until now I was far behind in my schedule. I could hear the thunder in the distance, which meant that instead of being all safe and dry, I was now going to be wet. Finally, it was time. I could now finish my own journey. I looked down and there were no handlebars! They had been broken off from too many people who had sat on them so that I could give them their ride. I looked around, asking those whom I had helped if they'd now please help me. Instead of help, I received excuses. I woke up from this dream with the last thing I remember from it being stranded with no handlebars. I searched through my recent days while I sipped coffee. I wondered what issues from my life are manifesting themselves in my sleep. To not be able to get where I am going because I am being held back by...what?"

I won't reveal the rest of this note because it had some very personal information and I don't wish to cause hard feelings if it were to be revealed by someone other than this person. I do know that dreams are the windows to our souls. What happens in our waking world  also comes to us in dreams.

However it is in our dreams that issues resolve themselves, we just need to be aware of it. If you have been having nightmares lately, what is happening that you feel not in control of? What  is it that is holding YOU back? There have been times in my life when I don't remember my dreams at all. This doesn't mean that we don't dream, it may just be that our sleep was so deep we can't recall what happened in sleep. Doctors say we need a good 6-8 hours of sleep at night and lately many of us are shirking out on that. It is in those last two hours that REM sleep, the time when we dream, is the most deep, restful sleep. That is when we dream! Without that deep sleep, our body suffers. Cortisol levels rise which in turn creates more belly fat and raise the risk of heart attacks.

Don't feel that you are lazy if you are in bed by 8 p.m. to meet a 6 a.m. alarm! Even God rested on the 7th day! In fact, it is the third Commandment that we keep holy the Sabbath day! REST! Relax! Do absolutely nothing unless you want to! My husband always asks me come Friday what our plans are. I try to keep our schedule open and plan very little. I want for him to rest after a busy week. He deserves it. YOU deserve it.

This week, try to remember your dreams. If you can, ask yourself what each dream is telling you to do. Are you faced with a difficulty you can't find the solution for? Maybe it will come to you in sleep. You just never know...

  1. I sometimes have dreams of falling off cliffs or being in a car wreck. Sure enough, it's when there is some shake up in my life. So yes there is validity to this!

  2. I have noticed that when my dreams are disturbing, it is because I am too stressed out...but when they have happy endings, my life is usually pretty happy also. Pay attention to dreams....they can let you know what you may not be admitting to yourself.

When things get rough around the edges, believe it or not, I have dreams about things I love and remember from my childhood. Sometimes I think I am living in denial, I guess that is how I cope.

    1. and that is a beautiful thing. Perhaps in your dreams you are making right what didn't work out in real life. It's a gentle "do-over" in that what you wanted was now attained. Go ahead and hug yourself, you're worth it!
