finding our purpose.......

Do not look at your inability, limitations, and weaknesses. God entrust you with something, whether it is a work or a ministry. Have faith that you are in His mighty hand that He will use you according to His will.

There is a story I'd like to share with you:

This is a story about a small candle carried by a man who was climbing the stairs of a lighthouse.
In their way up to the top, the candle asked the man, "Where are we going?"
"We're going to the top of this lighthouse and give signals to the big ships on the ocean," the man answered.
"What? How could it be possible for me with my small light to give signals to those big ships?"
"They will never be able to see my light", replied the candle weakly.
"That's your part. If your light is small, let it be. All you have to do is keep burning and leave the rest to me", said the man.
A little later, they arrived at the top of the lighthouse where there was a big lamp with a loop behind it. Then the man lit the lamp with the light of the candle and instantly, the place shone so brightly that the ships on the ocean could see its light.

Sometimes I think that people are given their purpose in life just to inspire the rest of us. Take away her sense of hearing as well as being able to see AND speak, yet she is one of the greatest authors, and speakers of all time. Who is she?
Helen Keller.
Her teacher, Annie Sullivan, was called the miracle worker, but it was Helen who became the miracle. God used her "disabilities" to show us how  we can still use what talents we have to reach out to so many.
In the past, God used many people to teach the rest of us what really is important in life. Look at many of the Great Saints and the infirmities they were plagued with. Despite the many obstacles, they succeeded in ways we can only imagine! Pain, illness, disease, torture, imprisonment and more, they sought not to BE served--but TO serve.

God asks no less of any one of us today.

Today, put aside your excuses, your, "I can't do this" attitudes of inability. In the English language, dis-ability, with the suffix "dis," means "down or away." In effect, we are telling ourselves that it is impossible, that it can't be done. Yet, I am telling you that NOTHING is impossible with God's help! Nothing is an obstacle, merely just a hurdle that can be figured out. No excuses, "because I'm black, (white, purple...you choose a color!) I'm overweight, I'm a religion others don't tolerate, I'm too old, too young, too ignorant, too poor, an addict/alcoholic..." what's that? It is just an excuse you have given yourself, a title that keeps you from reaching your full potential.

Again we go back to Helen Keller. Despite their child's darkness, Helen's parents EXPECTED better things from her, thus having Annie Sullivan as her TEACHER! They didn't institutionalize her, they kept her in the mainstream! They didn't excuse her irrational behaviors, they wanted for her to know there was a whole world out there just waiting to be conquered! And when she did, she reached out farther than anyone expected!

Who is Helen Keller in today's world? Who has the abilities to reach out...FARTHER THAN ANYONE EXPECTED?
Why, my friend...IT IS ALL OF US!
So what are you waiting for?

Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf/blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of how Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language, allowing the girl to blossom as she learned to communicate, has be
come widely known through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker.
A prolific author, Keller was well traveled, and was outspoken in her anti-war convictions. A member of the Socialist Party of America and the Industrial Workers of the World, she campaigned for women's suffrage, labor rights, socialism, and other radical left causes. She was inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in 1971.

  1. this is so beautiful! I think of Eunice Kennedy Shriver who made us all aware of kids with Down Syndrome and how special they really are! I think of the many volunteers who work with therapy dogs to help those who can't do for themselves...seeing eye dogs, hearing dogs, so many ways that if we all put our heads together...we can ALL be a miracle worker for someone in need!
