Thanks be to God!

He came not to to be served, but to serve.
He washed the feet of the poor, blessed those who were homeless, baptized those who desired to be one with God...Even to the point of ridicule from his fellow bishops for his desire to baptize children of single mothers.
He lived simply so that others could simply live.
He gave away what he could to the poor. He cooked for himself on a humble little stove.
He spent time with the masses who could do nothing for him, but rather so that he could do for them!
His health was never very good, though his mind was very sharp.
Who am I refering to?
If you said, "Jesus!" You would only be half wrong.
Had you said, "St Francis of Assisi," again you would be half wrong.
I am referring to our new Holy Father. A man who has been deigned by the Holy Spirit to lead the poor, the downtrodden, who will light the way for all of us to follow God, just as Jesus had intended it to be.

Here is Pope Francis kissing the foot of an AIDS patient. He will be formally installed as Bishop of Rome on March 19th, the Feast of Saint Joseph. ♥

Oh how happy the world should be! and already is! Here are just a few comments that have been made thus far:

"...cardinals who voted you as a new pope was guided by the holy spirit... Thank you Lord for giving him as our new pope...."

"Who else noticed that he wasn't wearing a gold chain around his neck like the other cardinals did? I already noticed his humility in that. Like if you agree."

" Isn't this what the world needs right now, a humble servant leader?"

"Pope Francis wonderful new pope God has given us! may he be blessed! may almighty God praise God and our lady! may we all say rosary in thanks given for God sending wonderful new pope! the power of the rosary will keep enemy from our door-- God bless you, Pope Francis!"

  1. Rev Baum, you never say it much, but the world needs to be reminded that you are a member of the Secular Franciscan Order...you live out the life of St Francis of Assisi in your daily life. Humility, charity, chastity and obedience to the church as well as serving your fellow humans....I see the Love you have in your words but I also can see how much you desire change for the good and will go to great lengths to show it...even if it doesn't agree with what the mainstream thinks...you will say it. God has truly blessed you also.

  5. "Bless you Diane. Our Church, our government, and our society at large are all in need of some healing. I hope this Pope will lead us to better place than where we are now. A house (nation) divided against itself cannot stand. Hopefully, there are brighter days ahead."
