Patrick Stewart speaks out against domestic violence.
I am including a link to a video that you must see. In it, actor Patrick Stewart speaks out about his own experiences with his father, a war veteran and his dealings with "shell shock," what we now call post traumatic stress disorder. His father used to beat his mother...and back in 1940 and beyond, when the ambulance men came and the cops were called, they told Patrick's mom, "you must have provoked him for him to act this way!" Patrick emphatically tells us now, "you did NOT do ANYTHING to provoke anger from another! You do NOT deserve to be hit!"
With so many veterans returning home with issues resulting from combat, this is a video worth watching. As it plays, there are links and phone numbers to call for help.
On behalf of so many who are hurt...whether you are being beaten...or you know of a family that is affected by abuse...please...do what you can to help. It is a known fact that many children who witness abuse think this is the normal way to behave and perpetuate that abuse themselves...or become bullies in school and beyond.
You can stop the aggression...yes you can!
Please watch: Patrick Stewart's speaks out
Amen, girl, you keep telling it like it is!!!
ReplyDeletedon't just exist...live! If you are in a bad relationship...just get out! No one deserves to get hurt on a daily basis...and do NOT believe him when he says he's sorry and that it will never happen again. It always does.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the pain that Patrick felt, growing up and watching his mum get hurt. I am so glad that he is speaking our for all of us. I need that type of strength on my side...we all do. Praise God for you, Miss reverend Baum...praise God that you have the courage to speak out!
ReplyDeleteHis compassion is so evident. He knows his dad needed help and his mom, strength. God bless all who are hurting today.
ReplyDeleteYour words may not save them all...but if just one person sees themselves, it is not wasted. Good luck.
