is your life a beautiful thing?
I just read a quote this morning that I know will stick with me for a long time to come:
"I
am compelled to wonder if God sees a beautiful thing when He looks at
my life. Does He see me do anything that is wonderfully significant for
Him?
What do you think He sees when he looks at your life?
Does He see a beautiful thing?"
Wow! Such in your face honesty right there! As Billy Joel sang, "honesty is such a lonely word."
Is your life honest? Or do you take every chance to hurt another, to gossip about their life, to create mayhem, distrust? If you are given too much change at the store, do you bring it to the cashier's attention, or just knowingly pocket it? I worked at a coffee shop where, if your cash drawer was short by more than fifty cents per shift, you were written up. Three write ups meant that you were fired. Three. That means, three strikes and you are out. It was an admonition to be careful, but slip ups DO happen...unfortunately if you saw it and didn't 'fess up that you were given a small windfall of forty five cents...I'd have been out of a job.
How many of you speed way past the limit on the roadways? It's OK, you think, there's no cops around. But then you just caused an accident due to your losing control as you sped around that turn....and lives were lost. See how easy it is to be dishonest...and what it cost another?
There is a homeless person sitting in a park....and yet you ignore him/her. Day after day you walk away...does it make you feel good to know that maybe you just ignored an angel in disguise? (Hebrews 13:2)
You drink...maybe way more than you should. "Who am I hurting?" you think. You ignore the warning signs: children who furtively dart from room to room to avoid you, a spouse who begs for you to quit and then cries into a pillow at night. You take yet another shot...and feel that you are justified. After all, you work hard, you haven't had a DUI--yet. Why not, right?
Your actions affect everyone...your LACK of actions can also have a devastating effect on those around you.
Today, make the better choice. Choose to see how what you do helps or hurts those around you? No lies to yourself...no justifications...just pure honesty.
Yes, it is a lonely word, everyone is so untrue....are you?
awesome as always!
