Ferguson, can you hear the cry of America?
The news is in, the police officer who killed Michael Brown has been cleared by a grand jury. I am not drawing sides for anyone but the innocent here, and that is those whose businesses are being looted and destroyed yet again, for those residents who live in fear of another riot...and I shake my head and wonder what hurting an innocent business has to do with the original incident? Isn't this the very situation that this city is all worked up about in the FIRST place, that someone whom they feel is "innocent" was taken down? Yet those who are rioting are doing the SAME EXACT THING!
"Praise the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with timbrel and dancing, praise Him with the strings and pipe, praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!" (Psalm 150)
OK...now that the verdict is out... can the country PLEASE learn from this and HEAL? what would be GREAT is if law enforcement officers would come out en masse and educate people on how to act when approached by a cop. Apparently Adam-12 is no longer a memory for those who feel entitled to break some "Law" or rule, then when a cop says "halt!" they go all buggy on them. It is NOT a race issue...it's just an issue of ignorance. The media also needs to STOP playing the race card. I am sure that Caucasians also resist arrest...but you don't see the black community rioting because of it.
Media...QUIT stirring the proverbial
pot!
What makes me really sad is how an officer, like Scott Patrick, (Mendota Heights, MN police officer) can be killed on the job (several months ago) and we all cry. Missouri...did you see OUR tears? Did you feel OUR pain??? I beg all of you reading this....it is not an issue of black vs white...it IS an issue of life not being honored for what it is...
And there you have it, the sum of what the situation is REALLY all about...life. If life were truly honored for what it is, someone wouldn't have the audacity to rob from another in the first place. Someone else wouldn't have had to defend the respect of a place being robbed by pulling a gun. We wouldn't have to deal with riots, issues of race or other situations where fear becomes prevalent, where we must maintain that "deer in the headlights" look because a situation has escalated into fear. There is enough fear in our world. We have terrorists at every turn who are maiming and killing innocent people. We have backyard burglars who are assaulting people on lit streets. We have so much fear in our midst...why compound it by adding fuel to the fire?
Today...be the one who puts out the flame of hate. Be the one who inspires hope. Be the one who says, "ENOUGH!" and means it! Be the one for whom peace is not just a word, a slogan or a feel good phrase for the holidays, but a way of life from now to eternity.
Be the one...because I guarantee you, if you be that one...one becomes two...which becomes four.
Let peace flow from within you.
Amen!
from a friend in Iowa: "Believe you can make a difference and you can, know you can make a difference and YOU will! Begin with self, choose love, peace, compassion and understanding! Make it a fabulous day friends!"
"The
limitation of riots, moral questions aside, is that they cannot win and
their participants know it. Hence, rioting is not revolutionary but
reactionary because it invites defeat. It involves an emotional
catharsis, but it must be followed by a sense of futility." ~Martin Luther King, Jr.
All I can say at this point is "amen" to this post. Wish that all of America could see it and heed it!!
