choose life and choose it abundantly!
If you know a situation exists, and you do nothing, it's a tacit approval that, should anything negative occur from it, you are just as guilty as the one who allows it to happen in the first place. You have just become a virtual Pied Piper, blindly leading and/or following that situation to it's sad demise. Do you agree with this?
Case in point: fourteen US Senators, who claim to be Catholic, are allowing late term abortions. Although they claim they are not allowing the Church to sway their opinion, how can one, in good conscience, say one thing and vote another? Maybe instead, it is time they stepped away from the public office that has split their conscience in two...?
The senators who voted to allow this are:
- Maria Cantwell – Washington
- Susan Collins -Maine
- Dick Durbin – Illinois
- Kirsten Gillibrand – New York
- Heidi Heitkamp – North Dakota
- Tim Kaine – Virginia
- Patrick Leahy – Vermont
- Ed Markey – Massachusetts
- Catherine Cortez Masto – Nevada
- Claire McCaskill – Missouri
- Bob Menendez – New Jersey
- Lisa Murkowski – Alaska
- Patty Murray – Washington
- Jack Reed – Rhode Island
I have studied this topic from every angle and every angle proves that, in the terms they use versus what I know, it is nothing more than allowing a woman to kill her unborn baby. When I think of my children, two of whom were born at 37 weeks gestation ( which is about three weeks too early) and my two grandchildren who were also born about three weeks early...and then I think of the women who now have the right to decide that maybe they don't want to be involved with this whole motherhood thing, so. let's abort the pregnancy, my heart burns with sorrow. I become angry at the ones who have the power in Congress who allowed such barbaric measures to take place.
"Life. It's for the living!" is a motto I have seen. Well, an unborn child is also a living creature. You cannot see it yet, but like a cake in the oven, it is becoming something so awesome, so miraculous! Take that cake out too soon and what happens? Simply put, it may be a mess as the center caves in. The edges may not be bit done, but the middle, nope, not even ready. Leave that pan to sit out until you "get back to it" and now it is just a gelatinous mess that ends up in the trash.
Same with aborted babies, except go one further...they feel pain. Piece by piece, as they are suctioned out from the womb, they feel pain. And then, it's over. The miracle that was an early beginning now had a catastrophic end.
I would hope that all women who find themselves with child would stop and think (maybe thinking this out way beforehand would have had another outcome, but I digress). All of the arguments about "too many kids in this world!" or "I wouldn't bring a child into the sad state our world is in!" just don't work. Sure, our world is sad and messed up, it has been since the beginning. But to take away a potential life who, maybe, could provide solace to an unhappy world...who, maybe could provide a cure for an illness, an invention that would make life better, who, just maybe, could be a leader of a country who can offer love and comfort...wouldn't that be wonderful? Do you wonder why there isn't a cure for some disease that has taken over? Maybe a cure would have been found...had the person with potential been alive to find one! It's a George Bailey, "It's a Wonderful Life" kind of scenario, isn't it?
Choose life! Check out John 10:10, Jeremiah 1:5, 1 Peter 2:9 and especially, John 3:16. yes, THAT one....God choose His Son...to show us His love, in a most extraordinary way. Imagine, had His mother, Mary decided halfway through her pregnancy, "nope! Nope! Not gonna do this! No way, cut this...this THING out of me-- NOW!" how much more sad and dark our world would be.
Friends, it IS dark, but Jesus IS the Light and the Life...and the Truth...and the way. Follow Him.
Please. Follow the example He has set for all of us.
Amen.
