the storms in our life

Just when you thought all was well, and you even knocked on wood, the floor caved in from under you and you felt as though you were falling into a hopeless abyss. I know you have been there, done that, because so have I. We would be lying to ourselves if we said it was not true.

Do you become fearful, heart beating so fast you can't catch your breath? Do you try and justify or blame it on something else? Do you hate circumstance? Do you blame it on God?

I had such an experience yesterday. A situation I thought was under control suddenly burst wide open. It is a life changing situation in that, without it, I am in dire straits. Yet I didn't panic. I gave it all up to prayer, confident an answer can be found. So it is with all of us. It's like swimming. When you find yourself in deep water and fear takes over, what is your first instinct? Thrash about! You are scared and doubt your own ability to deal with it...but wait!! Instead of panic, tread water. That's right, just like an otter! Just...float! Give up the panic, the fear...and give in...and you will float! Suddenly everything has clarity, giving you strength and energy to deal with the bigger situation, which in this case is getting to firm earth, then proceeding from there. Just like Peter walking on water when Jesus called to him, you too can move forward in your life, knowing that with faith, the outcome will always resolve itself. Maybe not the way you'd want it to, but for the better anyway!

May you find peace in your journeys through life!
