that which makes us stronger

You've heard it before: a caterpillar spins a cocoon and emerges a butterfly. But it is in the emerging that makes it stronger as it struggles to free itself from the chrysalis that binds it. Or the chick hatching from the egg, it is exhausted when it finally does emerge. If anyone attempts to crack that egg to "help" it, the chick always dies. A baby giraffe must stand up and walk within minutes of being born, or else it becomes food for the lions. The struggles it must endure, all the while mama giraffe is nearby, urging it on, knowing it is a life or death situation...

I could go on and on, but you see my point. So it is with all of us, we face struggles all the time. Now I don't know about you, but often wish I didn't have to face each day, wondering what else is going to upset my applecart! I want to know where I will be, what exactly will happen and there had better be no setbacks along the way...right?  My husband, who is a truck driver, has maps, a GPS , directions from the company he is delivering to and yet sometimes there is a breakdown in communication. His GPS sends him to the wrong place, the directions don't make sense, he missed a turn back there...then he calls me. I look it up on Google, give him new directions and he is back on his way.

How many of you, when life has sent you the wrong way, stop to ask for help? Many of us feel it is OUR struggle, we can do it OURSELF! Right? We fret, we cuss, we give up, because we just get so mired in our pity, we forget there are others who have the ability to help us. We are not that chick who, if help is given, dies. Yes, we also have our struggles, but we come out so much stronger for it. So ask! Ask a friend, ask a partner, ask God! Prayer is there, it's our conduit between us and Him. Use it! Tell God your struggles and then, with faith, know He hears you and is willing to help. Just ask!

To see through our struggles, our pain, will make us stronger and better prepared for the next hurdle life has for us. And the next. Because, as much as we want it, or wish it, life will never be easy...but to share your path with a friend...it makes it worthwhile!
