remember the days when we were young?

Next to Barney, Thomas the Tank Engine is probably one of the most recognized icons for young children...and why not? His bright blue color and always happy face endears him to young and old alike! I watched Thomas with my children when they were young and now with the grandkids and find him to be ever delightful. In many episodes, Thomas and his friends do silly things, such as finding out the consequences of not listening to each other, or their "boss," Sir Topham Hatt. When disaster strikes, the other engines don't mock or sit in judgment of each other. All draw together in unison, apologies abound, and once more, order is restored. Such simplicity!
So how do we get to adulthood as we do: always looking for the easy way out, placing blame, not accepting our responsibilities for our mistakes and making judgment calls? Where does the simplicity disappear to? Sometimes I wish we could go back to the days of the old schoolyard, as the song goes. Ever see how young kids argue? It's done in a flash and all is well once more. There are no petty grudges. Perhaps if you have the time and the inclination, sit down and take a look at Thomas and remember a time not so very long ago when all was right in the world...and still can be..if only we believe....
