gratitude on Memorial Day

On this Memorial day weekend, we need to remember it isn't all about the beer, the brats and the camping for three whole days. For the many who have served our country, it should be, in fact, it MUST be, a time to thank them for the SACRIFICE they made to keep us free! I am well aware of my own health limitations, but in many respects, I have it so easy compared to what some of these veterans have been through: many are missing limbs, their sight as well as the mental capacity to now function once more in a "normal" day to day existence. The sights and smells of war will always haunt them in their dreams...while we nestled here safe in our own country, thanks to them. While we are out partying every Memorial Day holiday, they are fighting to keep us safe. Freedom definitely is NOT free and the price is a heavy one to pay. If you doubt me, go to any veteran's hospital. There you will see what the ravages of war can  do and have done. Today....take time to thank a veteran....take time to reflect, to pray, to hug your family and be grateful for friends. Mostly, let's be grateful we are a free country! May God bless America!

"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
