pick up the phone--it's for YOU!

If your phone rang and you saw it was Jesus, who asked you to do Him a favor, chances are you'd drop everything and answer His need, right? Sure you would! You would even have bragging rights, by telling one and all that you helped the Man!!

Ok, your phone rings again. It's a friend. Can you help me, they ask. Sure you would, because that person is your friend! You would drop all that you were doing and answer the call. You'd have something to maybe talk about the next day at work or at a lunch date. No problem!

Now the question becomes more difficult. Say you see someone stumbling along the road. Maybe they are on the side of a freeway with a cardboard sign, "will work for food." Or maybe they are homeless. Or maybe it's Uncle Charley, who drank way too much AGAIN and Aunt Jane just threw him out and he needs a place to sleep.
What do you do?
Do you walk on by? Do you look at Caller ID and ignore the call? Do you pretend that someone ELSE will stop and offer that homeless beggar assistance?
Well...DO YOU??
If you would for Jesus...why NOT for a beggar? Jesus said, "if you do it for the LEAST OF THESE, YOU DO IT FOR ME!"  Wow...you could help that person in need, you could still maybe brag about it, although God prefers it if you do it in secret...he does know all!! And...you'd have that great feeling of knowing that you did the right thing!
Don't just do it for the warm fuzzy "it's the holidays!" feeling. Do it because it's January 21st....or August 5th...or June 8th. Do it NOW because....just because.
Isn't that reason enough??

  1. so often what we do for a friend we wouldn't dream of for a stranger. Why does it take something like a storm to bring out the best in us? Go figger!
