what is the "true meaning" of Christmas?

"Oh no! I killed it!" So said Charlie Brown when his tiny tree had but a single ornament attached to it. He was against the excess he saw around him and decided to make Christmas what it truly was supposed to be. His best intentions went awry until his friends came to save the day. Linus made them all realize that it is the spirit of the season that makes it special, not what you get, but rather, what you GIVE!

Charlie Brown: "Isn’t there anyone, who knows what Christmas is all about?!"
Linus: "Sure Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about. Lights please?
And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.
That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

This year saw the biggest "Black Friday" sales ever! Over 1.2 BILLION dollars were spent on the latest gadgets and gizmos. Were you a figure in this? Maybe a better question should be: what did you do for Jesus? You read that correctly. He said that whatever you do for others, you also do for Him. So...did you remember the lonely, the outcast? The downtrodden? The poor? They have their place in our crazy world, they are all God's children!
I encourage you if you haven't already done so, to get out your copy of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and watch it again with your kids, by yourself, whatever. The simplicity is just wonderful. And isn't that what Christmas SHOULD be about...simplicity?

Special thanks to Charles Schulz and the whole Peanuts gang for having the courage to put the true meaning of Christmas in their animated film. It has become a true Christmas classic.

So...what is the "true meaning" of Christmas?"

The True Meaning of Christmas from the Bible

"And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." – Luke 2:4-14 KJV

this is perhaps the BEST Christmas show of all time, hands down! The quality of the production was lackluster at its best, yet I wouldn't change it for the hi-def stuff they have today. The simplicity of the message was made even better by the simpleness of the viewing!

  2. You know, some people work hard for their money! If they want to spend it on themselves or a friend, why should you butt in and say otherwise? remember, the gadgets we have keep others working....don't forget that!
