there she is...

Miss America...Miss USA...Miss World...by whatever name it is given, a beauty pageant is still a beauty pageant. Two days ago, a new Miss America was crowned and everyone cheered. When I was young, I would sit and watch the program, entranced by what made this woman who she became. I dreamed that I could someday be her.

As a grown up, my mind now cluttered by reality, I find that this is a distraction. What do many of these candidates say when asked what they wanted to do for others? "World Peace!" Well, of course we all would like to see peace in the world...but what exactly does parading around in a bikini and an evening gown have to do with it? Yes, they are ambassadors of our country, but I think that their efforts at doing something good should begin before the crowning! Go to a food shelf and feed the hungry! Work with Habitat for Humanity and get dirty building houses! What are you doing to help those who have issues in their lives that just can't be helped on their own? The list is endless.

I am not saying that pageants are a waste of time, quite the opposite! What I am saying is that this is an excellent opportunity to really prove what a Miss America can be...what can a young lady do to show that she really does the best interests of the world around her within her?

Here is MY example of someone who should have been a Miss World: Mary....Jesus' mother!

Do you agree with me? Why...or why not? Or maybe this one:

Exactly! The fruit of Love--is service!!! She never needed an evening gown to prove what was in her heart, now did she?

  1. Maybe what is needed is this bit of fantasy, to take us away from the painful facts of life, have you thought of THAT?

  3. Truly it is what is in the heart, not inside a dress that matters! We all know they duct tape their boobs anyway!
